Why do archeologists think civilizations didn't start in the Americas?

Did periodic natural disasters cause extinction of the earliest civilizations in North and South America? I think this is a definite possibility. Hopefully, we will discover the truth one way or the other. We just need to keep an open mind and be ready to explore all possibilities.




Stan's response: I agree with you completely Mike. I have come across several credible scientists who believe that civilization began in the Americas and migrated outward from there.
