"Classifying" in water.(!)

by James Weaver
(Freedom, CA)

Am beginning my second life, (retired college Art Instructor), as a CA gold prospector, and came across this site. Every "wannabe" video I've seen shows people classifying "dry". Thanks for the tip on keeping the bucket full of H2O, then pouring it off after I have a full load to pan!

Stan's response: Hi James, You are exactly correct about classifying in water! Classifying wet, is about 10 times more effective and thorough than classifying dry. Keep that bucket of water nearby whenever possible.

That said, if there is no water nearby, just get the job done in the best way possible. Have a good gold season this year!
